Delhi — fantastic city of contrasts. Amid chaotic sprawl streets and ornate vuzesenkyh happen quite recent and ordered areas. To see this in person, we went to New Delhi — a modern area of the city of Delhi, which is also the capital of India. Here are concentrated all the administrative buildings, expensive hotels and other attractions luxurious life.
In contrast to Old Delhi in New laid wide straight streets are relatively quiet, little cars, clean and you can even say — well:
At the same India in New Delhi we first saw this achievement of civilization as garbage containers:
And this — the Indian version of VAZ, a real people's car Ambassador. Let not archaic appearance fool you, this model is manufactured by Hindustan today. By the way, this car is a real hit with local taxi drivers and civil servants.
If you started a tour of the New Delhi area of Konnaut (most recommended), then continue your way street and somewhere Kurzon kilometer walk through one of the main attractions — the Gateway of India. Like the vast number of triumphal arches, India Gate is a tribute to the memory of the great battle scene. In this case, talking about Anglo-Afghan War and the First World War. India Gate is also an example of so-called pop sites, so there is always a lot of tourists — both foreigners and Indians.
In front gate equipped Tomb of the Unknown Soldier — a mandatory object visits all government delegations.
Around the gate stretches a huge park where many deliytsi rest. In order to adequately enjoy the small lake stretches, you can even rent a boat. Generally Indians — fellows, they successfully combined their pomp monuments and park. This does not often see in our cities.
A rest on the grass, we went towards the silhouette of a large building that bovvanila poodal. Later it turned out that the residence of the President of India. From the gate to the residence of the president laid a wonderful way:
Pay attention to traffic lights with timer — it is not a frequent guest on Indian roads. Incidentally, the traffic light is lit sign that prohibits turning to the right:
The inscription on the plate beyond the traffic light shows that left turn — paid :) In fact, the inscription means that the left can be turned only the signal light, it seems that the left turn always allowed:
Along the road is a park where the locals like to relax. Do you often see in us men who are resting on the grass after a day (alcoholics not included)?
Eventually we reached the Rashtrapati Bhavan the same — the presidential palace and former residence of the Viceroy. Palace occupies a vast territory and has a remarkably grand view. Incidentally, the Palace and the India Gate is the brainchild of one architect.
They are located directly opposite each other (behind — Presidential Palace, the distance — target):
Presidential Palace surrounded by other state institutions. Unfortunately, we could not establish the purpose of each of them:
Park right from the presidential palace. Men playing cards. By the way, we did not notice a single case of alcoholic beverages, ill probably :)
Sportier boys play football, surprisingly, not in cricket. You can smash the ball presidential box or ask the head of state to make a drink:
After a hike in the jungle and walk on the trendy New Delhi can say about Indian contrasts that occur even within one city, let alone the whole country. India — a very diverse country and it will be very short-sighted to judge it, having only in any one place. Frankly, we are not yet able to briefly describe the country and capacious. Perhaps the word "contrast" and is most appropriate in this case.
This is our journey over the city center and a little rest, we went to get acquainted with the nuances of Indian Hard Rock Cafe — known worldwide chain of restaurants.
Delhi Hard Rock Cafe is located in the shopping center Multiplex at:
Hard Rock Cafe New Delhi, M 110, Multiplex Building’, 1st Floor, DLF Place, Saket District Centre, New Delhi — 110017.
If you decide to visit the restaurant in the evening, then remember the evening traffic, for which Delhi is commonplace. Choosing the rickshaw transport, do not forget the respiratory mask.
If you unsanitary conditions underground — not an obstacle, go to Malviya Nagar Metro station and ten minutes walk on foot in the direction Multiplex Building.
The territory is modestly but neatly.
Inside — nothing special, which is not in us — two floors of boutiques and restaurants of European style.
Here you can find almost native McDonalds. By the way, the situation with McDonald's and other fast-food chain in India is very interesting and probably worth a separate paragraph.
McDonald's is not well taken root in India. If you remember — most of the inhabitants of this country are Hindus, and therefore — they do not eat beef. A company McDonalds, so to speak, is one of the largest killers of cows whose meat is commonly used in hamburgers. Still about 40% Indians are radical vegetarians — do not use meat as much sense to visit the McDonald's they do not. In passing, let us not forget about Muslims who categorically contraindicated pork. Correlation to local features, the problem generally been solved by replacing beef lamb and chicken. Also with an eye on local vegetarian vegetable burger was invented, and the world famous Big Mac in India is called the Maharaja Mac. But even after all the intricate machinations Indians Rushed no queues at McDonald's because they just do not like the taste of American food that they find fresh and unsaturated. Another big enough problem McDonald create various radical political movements that have already repeatedly raided as restaurants of McDonald and his colleagues: KFC, Dominos Pizza, Pizza Hut and more.
Hard Rock Cafe is on the first floor of the multiplex. In front is a shop with all kinds of rock and souvenirs.
The interior was commonplace for traditional institutions of the network, no hint of the local Indian flavor:
Unfortunately, tonight we had to delay the destruction of templates — performances of Indian rockers could not hear, but they say that they favor here regularly.
From beers, this evening, we liked Corona Extra, Heineken, Kingsfisher. Beer imported. The menu volume is indicated, and all that beer only in bottles, 0.33 liter. You bring an open bottle, especially refined intellectuals can even give a glass, if you ask.
Staff friendly, all speak English well, and some are so good that we could not understand them. From time to time you shall come a colorful guy who will be interested in whether you like it or waiter so happy. Generally, we are satisfied everything except this same guy who in the end we paid separately as an additional line in check, and there was a line up 5: tip the waiter, any taxes, payment managers. And as a consequence, the usual bottle of beer cost us 0.33 l about 6 dollars. The real rozvodnyak.
Then we will discuss equally beautiful tourist spots that can be seen in Delhi.
